About The 3D Bar
From the Kitchen to 8 Studios on 3 Continents
The 3D Bar was started by Barbara in 2019 at her home in Amsterdam. It quickly became too busy at home, and the studio with a central bar opened in Amsterdam at the beginning of 2022. Barbara renovated everything herself, with help from friends and family. The result is a beautiful studio where everyone immediately feels at home.
2019
How It Started in Amsterdam
The journey of The 3D Bar began in 2019 when founder Barbara decided to use her passion and craftsmanship to create personal pregnancy sculptures from her cozy apartment in Amsterdam. It all started in her living room, which transformed every morning as the couch and fridge made way for the magic of 3D creation. At the kitchen bar, not only beautiful sculptures were created, but also unforgettable moments. This is how the name ‘The 3D Bar’ came about, a place where craftsmanship and conviviality come together.
2021 - 2022
Growth and Expansion to a Dedicated Studio
Due to the growing demand for our unique service, it was time for a dedicated studio in 2021. With the help of friends and family, we realized our dream studio at Willem de Zwijgerlaan 331 in Amsterdam. In 2022, we proudly opened our doors, bringing the homely atmosphere and warmth of our original home studio with us. The studio, once again with a central bar, offers not only a cozy environment but also a professionally equipped ‘engine room’ in the basement for the production process.
2023-2024
Expansion and Adventure - Deventer and San Diego
2023 was a year of adventure and expansion. We opened a second location in Deventer in collaboration with photographer Melis Mekking from Studio Mamsie. This allowed us to serve women in the east of the Netherlands with less travel time. Additionally, we made an exciting leap across the ocean to San Diego, California, for a successful pop-up event. This adventure offered women on the other side of the world the chance to experience the magic of The 3D Bar and pregnancy art. In 2024, we organized a pop-up event for the second time in Sunny San Diego.
2025-2026
The Future - Broaden the Horizon
In the summer of 2025, not one, but two new studios opened in the Netherlands. In Buren, near Tiel, Hilde opened her beautiful studio. Easily accessible for all women in the south of the country. Additionally, Barbara herself runs a pop-up studio in Rotterdam, which opens once every two weeks. The 3D Bar is also catching on in Rotterdam, so the pop-up has been extended and will remain open in 2026.
The foreign adventure continues. In the fall of 2025, no less than two pop-up events will take place on the delightful Caribbean islands of Bonaire and Curaçao. That calls for more sun, sea, and pregnancy sculptures.
