What is a Pregnancy Sculpture?
A pregnancy sculpture is a physical representation of a pregnant belly, created using a 3D scan. After the scan, the sculpture is printed in your chosen material, and Barbara or Melis meticulously hand-finish each piece with care and precision. This ensures that every unique wish can be carefully incorporated into the artwork.
What Materials are Available for a Pregnancy Sculpture?
Our sculptures are made from various materials. You can opt for a matte finish with materials like plaster and chalk, or for bronze and copper variants that offer more shine. We also create stunning sculptures from cast bronze.
Pregnancy Sculpture with a Matte Finish (Plaster or Chalk)
Plaster and chalk are popular choices due to their timeless and subtle appearance. These materials offer a matte finish that beautifully accentuates the details. Furthermore, a plaster or chalk sculpture seamlessly integrates into any interior.
3d Pregnancy Sculpture in Bronze or Copper
A pregnancy sculpture in bronze or copper offers a unique, luxurious appearance. These materials give the sculpture a striking sheen. If you’re unsure which material to choose, feel free to browse our website for inspiring photos. You can also discuss your preference during your appointment at The 3D Bar, where Barbara or Melis will gladly assist you in making your choice.
Cast Bronze Pregnancy Sculpture
The 3D Bar offers the exclusive option to create a pregnancy sculpture from cast bronze. This artisanal crafting process ensures that each sculpture acquires a unique character.

Book an Appointment Online
Booking an appointment at The 3D Bar is very easy. By clicking the ‘book an appointment’ button on the website, you can choose an appointment with Barbara in Amsterdam or Melis in Deventer. You can indicate your preferred day and time and communicate any additional wishes.
Visiting one of our Locations
When the day finally arrives, you’ll receive a warm welcome at one of our locations. Barbara or Melis will be ready with non-alcoholic drinks or a delicious cup of decaffeinated coffee. During a relaxed conversation, we’ll calmly discuss your wishes.
The 3d Scan
After our conversation, it’s time to change and put on a bathrobe. For the best result, we recommend having the scan performed without lingerie, as maternity lingerie can sometimes be tight and may not fully capture your natural curves. However, the choice is entirely yours. If you feel more comfortable wearing lingerie, that’s perfectly fine. In that case, we recommend wearing skin-colored lingerie for an optimal final result.
Next, we’ll work together to find a pose that you find comfortable and beautiful. While you’re in position, I’ll walk around you with a scanner. This scanner is completely safe for both you and your baby. Within just 3 minutes, we’ll have collected all the information, and you can put your bathrobe back on. We’ll review the result together, and only when you are completely satisfied will I save the file for printing. Should you still have any doubts, I’ll be ready to perform a new scan.
Materials and Finishing
After the scan is complete, we’ll start working with your chosen material. We also take into account all your communicated wishes. With attention to detail and craftsmanship, we transform the 3D print into a true work of art.
Delivery of your 3d Pregnancy Sculpture
Once your 3D pregnancy sculpture is ready, you can choose to pick it up in Amsterdam. However, we usually recommend opting for shipping. We completely understand that, especially so soon after childbirth, you might have other things on your mind than picking up the sculpture.
Why Choose the 3d Bar?
Barbara and Melis warmly welcome everyone to one of their locations. They are happy to take the time to listen to your wishes and treat you to delicious non-alcoholic drinks or a warm cup of (decaffeinated) coffee. At The 3D Bar, you also receive a free digital file of your sculpture. Should anything ever happen to the physical sculpture, you can easily have a new one made based on this file. Or, if you’re not entirely sure how you want the sculpture designed yet, you can revisit us later with this file.
